Your stories are top-notch. You really capture the personalities of the characters! I've been trying my hand at writing (something I have never done or actually shown people before
Thanks very much
Showing people my writing was incedibly frightening as I thought it was, well.. shit really. But that first time I got a positive review made all my worrying worth it. Of course you can't please everyone, but you do your best anyway. I'm glad you found something to inspire yourself with while looking through mine. I always find myself thinking up silly stories in my head. Getting them on paper is a whole other matter through. Sometimes the brain and fingers just don't co-operate. I see you are doing a collab piece with another writer. I have thought about this before. What is the process you both use? Thanks for the wonderful reply! I felt the same way (completely terrified).
My whole thing started when I asked LiveAndLoveArt if I could use her Shepard/Children and do the Shepard Family Stories. She agreed, loved my work and asked if I would like to do a collab with her. I agreed, not knowing exactly what that would entail. The process is not what you would expect. We use (Yahoo) messaging and we alternate writing every few paragraphs. It's a lot of fun, kinda like a game of chess. So each chapter really two people writing simultaneously. Most of the characters were designed by me, except for a small handful. (Lennata, Iysis, Nikolai). I would love your opinions on any of my work. (Suggestions, questions, requests, whatnot). As always keep up the amazing work Well, I've just spent the better half of an hour reading all of your chapters and they're quite good. You should be proud.
The Shepard Family Stories in particular really tickled my fancy. There are so many fanfics out there that focus on action and adventure (I'm guilty lol) that it was nice to read something that was totally different. They were short, to the point, and heartwarming (such as Mordins or Wrexs) which made reading them a delight. As for the actual writing, again it was very easy to read. Because of the kinds of stories I write and/or read, I tend to elaborate (overly in some cases. A bad habit) when describing scenes and emotion. These ficlits are a perfect example that you don't need to have a multi-sentenced paragraph to get your point across. I'm actually looking forward to any other installments you might write. As for Path Among Stars, I'm liking the story you're weaving here. I hardly ever read OC stories, mainly because if it doesn't have characters we know and love in them, I tend to lose interest quickly. I love the idea of a bounty hunter (I've toyed with the idea myself) and this Lennata is turning out to be an interesting character. Her fight with Lewa in the second chapter was really well done too. A lot of people have difficulty writing action scenes, but this turned out great. When Scarab shot David and immediately regretted it, I thought... hello...maybe he's not so bad after all. Then when he saved Iysis, I must admit I had felt something there. His final words to her were a nice touch. I have a real soft spot for baddies turned goodies or reluctant heroes, (must be a chick thing There are a few spelling mistakes and paragraph anomalies, as well as this symbol that keeps popping up everywhere (lol), but I'm guessing that's the work of dA's upload option. Other then that, the story as a whole is quite interesting and the writing is really well done. As writers, even amateurs like us, there is something to be said in practice practice practice. I read a crap-ton of books, mainly fantasy and take note on how they structure sentences, apply narrative and points of view. Anyhow, this has gone on waaay to long, lol. I only wanted to point out that your stories are great work. I even looked up LiveAndLoveArts work to see the pics on the Ocs. This is something else I admire. Commitment to your own fantasy creation in both art and prose. Siigh... I wish I could draw all the characters I have in my head LOL. Keep up the great work. Both of you I have no plans to stop writing the SFS series. They are a lot of fun to write. I'm working on the second part of the Jack story. (Trying to figure out where to take it: Messing with liara (tattoos I can't tell you how much I am relieved that we're doing Path Among Stars right. She and I were both slightly concerned that it wouldn't work as well as we hoped. Yeah, we had a lot of fun writing the Lennata/Lewa fight. Each "move" we made came as a surprise to the other. She and I are very proud of our "motley crew" as you put it O_O I hadn't realized that the DA upload had screwed with bits. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Will try to go and edit that as soon as I can. I am totally with you on the drawing aspect. I can't draw....at all Thanks so much for the wonderful support and taking time out of your day to read my stories. Keep up your amazing work as well. your animated gifs are amazing...and this all other things( I don't even know how to name them
